You are put in direct contact with a child, with no large central administrative organisation in between. You write to your sponsored child and he/she answers in English, DIRECT TO YOU. For less than the price of a packet of cigarettes or a bottle of wine per week, your child can be assisted to go to a school which he/she would otherwise be unlikely to be able to attend.

• The privilege of refurbishing a home for a family in order to give them a more secure future and to keep them dry during the rainy season. Frequently the children's beds are soaked by rainwater pouring through the roofs.
  
  
• The chance to help a family, decimated by the AIDS virus, to receive a cow so that the children can drink milk before going to school. Local cows are hardier and easier to look after but the cross-breed cows produce more milk, meaning that there is enough left over to sell to the local dairy, thus assisting with self-sustainability. Each cow may also bear a calf, thus continuing the cycle.

• Gifts for your friends and family. Make a donation and you will be sent an attractive card to send to your friends, showing them what you have purchased on their behalf. If you choose to sponsor a child on their behalf, they can write to 'their' child and strike up a lifelong friendship.
